          الفترة التى يقضيها طالب الرهبنة هي فترة أختبار، وليست فترة نذر للبتولية... هو يختبر نفسه، هل تناسبه حياة الرهبنة أم لا. فإن وجد أنها تناسبه، بقى في الدير إلي أن تتم سيامته راهباَ، وفي السيامة يكون قد نذر نفسه للبتولية وحياة النسك والزهد. أما إن وجد حياة الرهبنة لا تناسبه، فمن حقه أن يترك الدير، ومن حقه أن يتزوج. والاستثناء الوحيد،هو أن يكون قد نذر نفسه أمام الله لحياة البتولية
